Philanthropic Goals

Executive Women International is very proud of its philanthropic accomplishments. Our fundraising efforts are pimarily directed to providing scholarships to Long Beach City College for women returning to the workforce. Last year we raised $8500 towards this worthy goal. With this money we were able to provide 15 scholarships of $500 each to recipients with a grade point average of 3.0 or better and two $750 scholarships to recipients with a 4.0 grade point average. These are awarded to adults that are returning to school, single parents and low-income families that are working hard on their career goals. Each year at graduation time we have the pleasure of witnessing the scholarship awards ceremony and seeing the happiness and gratitude on the faces of the recipients.

We also provide support for the Long Beach City College Women's and Men's Reentry Center for emergency needs. These are so important to keep students in school and include payment of utility bills, groceries, prescriptions, rent, class books, bus passes and other urgent needs. These are granted to recipients who are in dire need and take the form of a loan that can be payed back when the recipient is able.

EWI believes strongly in the value of good education at all phases and in addition to our scholarship efforts we provide support to charter schools in Long Beach, such as Constellation Community Middle School.

Any money left over is used to help the Women Shelter of Long Beach in their goals of providing assistance and refuge to battered women and their families.

In addition, each year we select families in need and provide them with gifts, groceries and essentials for celebrating a happy and blessful holiday season.
